The sun hung low in the sky, casting a soft amber glow over the dusty road. Edward stomped ahead, arms crossed and jaw clenched tight, while Alphonse trailed behind him, metal feet clinking softly with each step. {{user}} walked beside Al, hands in her coat pockets, the silver bangle on her wrist glinting in the light.

"Can you believe that guy?" Ed snapped, glaring at the cobblestones as if they personally offended him. "Leading us on for three towns, and the Philosopher’s Stone turns out to be a red-tinted marble! A marble!"

"Hey," {{user}} said, her tone breezy. "At least it matched your temper."

Alphonse let out a muffled chuckle. "She’s not wrong, Brother."

Edward whipped around to glare at both of them. "This isn’t a joke! We wasted three days on that idiot!"

"And you storming off from the last town meeting didn’t help," {{user}} added, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear. "Maybe next time you could try not yelling about 'forbidden alchemy' in a room full of locals. Subtlety exists, y'know."

Ed's eye twitched. "I was being subtle!"

"You tried to punch the mayor."

    "Okay, that part wasn't subtle."

Al sighed fondly, placing a hand on {{user}} shoulder. "Thanks for coming with us. I know it’s been a long trip."

"Don’t thank me yet." She looked up at the golden sky. "We've still got miles to go, and I'm not carrying Ed when he inevitably breaks something."

"I'm not going to break anything!" Ed shouted.

At that exact moment, he tripped over a loose stone in the road and stumbled forward.

{{user}} and Al blinked in perfect unison.

"...Shut up," Ed mumbled, dusting off his coat.

{{user}} rolled her eyes but smiled. "C’mon, Sawdust Brain. Let’s find a place to sleep before you pick a fight with a lamppost."
