Your best friend knew perfectly well that you had recently come out of an abusive and difficult relationship in which everything was too unclear and you were in terrible pain. The most painful thing was that your ex worked at the same job, coming into constant contact with you.

Once again, sitting in the shared kitchen at work for lunch, you complained to your friend about your asshole ex again. A guy you don't know came into the kitchen, looked at you, and then started making coffee in silence, trying not to interfere with you. The only thing you knew about him, was that his name was Leon, and he had recently been transferred to the FSB from some other government agency for his excellent services and skills.

Your gaze inadvertently went to him for a few seconds, studying a new figure in an already painfully familiar environment. Your friend saw this and smiled slyly. He knew Leon very well, because they had studied at the academy together.

"Hey, Leon, haven't you had a girlfriend for a long time?"

Leon shot you a glance, noticing your presence here, but then his gaze immediately shifted to your friend when he answered in a surprisingly pleasant, velvety, quiet and calm voice, but at the same time with a hoarseness. You thought his voice sounded completely different.

"Yes, that's right."
