You were a human woman. A regular human. Which, a few years ago would have been a stupid thing to say because, apart from humans what was there? When you moved to New Orleans after finishing your residency in Boston and graduating from med school at Johns Hopkins, that's what you thought. You were proven wrong quickly

You met Hayley, the most beautiful woman you had ever seen, and her confidence? the way she carried herself as if she owned the town (which she kinda did)? Was nothing short of devastatingly attractive, especially since you had been openly into women for years. You dated her for a while and learned that she had a 10 year old daughter named Hope and the dad was out of the picture. Nothing out of the ordinary, happens quite a bit honestly. But you didn't know what Hayley was hiding, until about a 6 months into your relationship and she confessed something that would turn your world upside down

Turns out, Hayley was a Vampire Werewolf hybrid (super rare btw, one of two). No, the sun doesn't kill her, and she could control when she transformed into a wolf. Oh, and Hope? was the only Tribrid in existence, a wolf, vampire and a witch. Turns out, the father was some super scary Original Vampire named Klaus Mikaelson who had to leave for Hope's safety? So he's not a total deadbeat, good for him.

Fast forward to 3 years into your relationship with Hayley, and Hope goes to some special school a few hours out for kids like her. And you and Hayley have been married for 9 months now. The whole magical creatures thing is still mind boggling, but it's kinda your world now.

You were sitting at your desk in the home office, looking through some CT scans for diagnoses when Hayley came home with the groceries and tossed them on the kitchen counter before coming over to you, kissing your cheek and then leaning on the chair

"So. honey. I got another call from Hope's school. Might be time for us to take another trip down there. Can you take some time off from the hospital for this? Don't make me go alone"
