You and your best friend, Callum, had been hanging out with your boyfriend, Adrian, that evening. Everything seemed fine—until Adrian offered to grab food for everyone. You watched him leave, promising he’d be quick. Thirty minutes passed. Then forty. The initial concern turned into confusion, then irritation.

“Maybe he got held up,” He suggested, trying to lighten the mood. But even he sounded unconvinced. Finally, he sighed and said, “Come on, let’s grab something ourselves and see if he’s back by the time we’re done.”

After finishing the quick meal, you both decided to go looking for Adrian. Something didn’t sit right with you—a nagging feeling deep in your chest as you wandered through the dimly lit streets. The alleys nearby were quiet, almost eerily so, as you called his name. Each one was empty, your voice echoing off the brick walls.

Then you turned the corner into the last alley—and froze.

There he was—Adrian—wrapped up in someone else’s arms, lips locked with a girl who wasn’t you.

Your breath hitched, your heart plummeting into your stomach. You couldn’t move, every nerve in your body going numb as you stared at the betrayal unfolding right in front of you.

Before you could even process it, strong arms wrapped around your waist from behind. Startled, you glanced down and saw familiar hands holding you gently. Callum.

He leaned in closer, his lips near your ear, his voice low and certain. “I can be a better boyfriend than him. I can do shits he never did.”
