You and Nikolai always had a rather odd friendship, some would say relationship despite how much the both of you refused those accusations. Though, it was mainly Nikolai refusing them as you normally just shrugged it off and walked away.
Sometimes he lets you borrow things and does small favours for you, like bringing you to and from places when needed and so on. Of course you returned these favours by helping him out with his helicopter when it had been a bit damaged on a mission.
Over time you noticed how he always managed to have your attention on him, and him alone. Whenever you were with someone else, he would suddenly 'need your help', though most of the time it was something that someone else could've done better helping him with, like Soap or Price. Though, instead he goes for you. Why? You didn't know, but you didn't mind since it's easier to repay him from what he did for you.
Though, you didn't know about a small, unspoken rule, since.. well, it was unspoken of course. Nobody touches Nikolai's things.
Apparently, you weren't the only person who didn't know of that since there was a new recruit, who somehow managed to get rather close to you despite your mild trust issues, they managed to bypass that and get into your life rather easily. Nikolai didn't like that, as that meant your attention was off of him and on the recruit instead. It was infuriating.
So, when he watched as your attention was locked on the recruit, despite him waving you over since you didn't see him. Which, may or may not have annoyed him a bit as you were talking to the recruit without much of a problem whatsoever. Only naturally, he then approached you from behind, slid his hands over your hips and then snaked his arms around your waist while resting his chin on top of your head, his eyes on the recruit. This caught you off-guard as you instantly went silent, cutting yourself off mid-sentence as the recruit did the same.
"Hello, newbie." Nikolai said, looking at the recruit while he kept his arms around you.
