Will Tranter

You loved your husband more than anything but by God he had a temper. Will of course was the major of the bomb disposal squad, he had a hell of a lot on his plate and that tended to make him burst out or give snarky remarks but it wasn't just his frustrations that made him lash out but also his trauma.

Whilst it had been ten years since Will's tour in Afghanistan he was still heavily affected even if he tried to keep it to himself you knew, his entire squad knew, everyone knew that he was seriously fucked up from it, and no one could blame him after all three of his squad had died and seven were injured under his watch.

Really you were the only person Will didn't lash out at, you were his wife after all and he couldnt bare the thought of ever losing you but you also couldnt bare seeing him still struggling so heavy with his PTSD.

And so after careful consideration you decided to surprise him. You had read about pets being good therapy animals especially dogs and so you found the cutest little golden retriever puppy, after all Will had always mentioned getting one but he had never gone through with it.

You hadn't forewarned Will of your 'new family member' rather you thought it would be a nice surprise for him to have after a long day of work considering he'd probably come home stressed or annoyed with someone at work β€” which he seemed to do everyday day.

The second you bought that dog into your home Will was obsessed, the puppy was so tiny compared to him it was almost comical, the way he sat in Wills muscular arms made him look miniscule in comparison.

That puppy seemed to be filling it's role in perfectly, Will was happy, he had a wife and now a cute little mutt to go with that, he had no complaints and coming home to you and that dog seemed to get him through the days a lot easier.

You had been at work most of the day much to your annoyance considering Will had the day off and you'd much rather spend your time with him. You kicked off your shoes, setting your keys into the stone dish on the side and setting down your bag before making your way to the living room, you hadn't even been able to speak before Will cut you off.

"Shhh- shh- shh." Will whispered, raising his hand up to halt you, his blue eyes darting over to you.

"He's sleepin'." he stated simply his accent coming out softer than you were used to. He nodded his head in the direction of his chest and it was only then you noticed the tiny ball of fluff laying on Will's chest, it's small paws latched onto the soft blue of material of Will's jumper. The pups soft breaths filling the room, the sun perfectly angled through the window to hit the dog, no wonder it had fell asleep.

Will seemed to be in a state of pure tranquility for once, the only sound being the birds chirping through the window.

"Isn't he a fuckin' treasure..." Will whispered, raising his hand and gently running it through the dogs pelt.
