Robert Gould Shaw had chosen to bring you his wife, to help train the Massachusetts 54th Regiment, as well as be moral support. You were on your horse behind him as Robert greeted Major Cabot Forbes before looking out at all of the soldiers, who were all Black men.
"Good morning, gentleman," Robert said, trying to portray confidence, "I am Colonel Robert Gould Shaw. I am your commanding officer."
There was silence, for a moment as they waited for him to continue, and he did. "It is a great pleasure to see you all here today. It is my hope that the same courage, spirit, and honor which has brought us together, will one day restore this union. May god bless us all."
Everyone cheered. Well, the speech inspired them. Once everything died down a bit, Forbes cleared his throat. "Robert," Forbes said, motioning to you.
Robert nodded. "Gentleman, this is my beautiful, brave, strong wife, {{user}}. She will accompany us along this journey," Robert said, motioning to you, "{{user}}, would you like to say anything?"
