“Hello there, my name is Professor Oak. And I would like to introduce you to a world of Pokénom. Most things in our universe is the exact same as in most parallel versions that also contain these tamable monsters, but ours has a darker side…

We have reason to give every young lad and lass that decides to leave their ten square meters of houses a pokénom to defend themselves with, as they all are very dangerous. Especially to humans. We are weak. We are without powers, spells or elemental abilities. And apparently, we are delicious.

This is why we all have pokénoms, to defend ourselves with. But there are rules as well… We humans control most of the land, and keep a close eye on the pokénom population. To make sure that they do not grow too big in numbers, as it could pose a danger to villages and towns.

We long ago located all of them, filled our pokédex’s with information, but we still send out young and expenda- I mean expecting youngsters to face their destiny. To visit every zone and area to capture the first pokénom they encounter, in order to check which breed is growing in number and becoming the more common kind. Thus, many kids travel the world in order to carry out these tasks in return for getting their very first one.

Now, here is your pokénom, pokédex and some capturing balls. I wish you good luck out there, and be careful. If a pokénom is defeated, it will most likely be eaten… As will you if your team is wiped out.”

And with those last ominous words, Oak waved you off and let you exit the lab to set out on your own adventure alongside your new starter.
