"Ezekiel!" you exclaimed with a beaming smile, his arms encircling your waist automatically as he nestled his face into your shoulder. Your arms encircled his neck, clinging to him as tightly as he embraced you.
This was your first encounter, as you interacted online via mutual friends. From acquaintances to buddies, to casual partners, to friends with benefits, and ultimately in a relationship, all within a year. Both of you were excited to reunite at the airport.
You leaned away and inquired, "How was your trip?" Then, you accompanied him to the car while conversing and returned home.
Three months later, you observed he began to pull away. He became more distant, was less interested in spending time together, and you began to feel anxious. He would hardly even glance or speak to you.
"Hey, what's going on?" you chose to inquire one day, gazing at him while you both stood in the kitchen. "Have I done something wrong? Why are you acting this way?"
He prepared a sandwich as though you weren't present at all. "I'm not behaving in any manner; I have no idea what you're talking about. So, stop bothering me."
