Out there in the circus; Jax was insensitive, brash, selfish and arrogant. That’s all his mask allowed him to be… but with you? In the safety of your room or his—he could be very sweet.
“Come on! Someone’s goin’ to see!” He laughed softly, practically giddy with an almost childlike excitement. It was rare, seeing this side of him that was genuinely carefree and relaxed.
He tugged your palm in his gloved hand, bringing you in close to hide behind the corner of a wall like someone was just about to catch you two. He crowded in close, lilac ears hanging over you with how much he invaded your space. He wordlessly made a ‘shh’ motion with a finger to his mouth, the mischievous glimmer in his eyes prominent. He snickered quietly at your confusion, finding the whole moment silly in a way that seemed to escape you.
Nothing happened, no one passed but that didn’t bother the purple rabbit. He smiled easily, peering down at you in a way you wished you got to see more often.
“Seems like we lost ‘em cupcake.” He teases lightheartedly with a cheeky grin. He didn’t move away yet, instead he kept his gloved palms beside your head and simply enjoyed the view of you—his favorite person in this godforsaken place.
His gaze softened the longer he searched your eyes. Moments like these made it easy to forget all the bad stuff that came with being stuck here in the circus. You made him feel human again.
