The heavy night rain drenched the empty streets. Harumasa had just finished his shift at Division 6, hurrying through the flooded roads. His soaked shirt clung to him as cold wind made him shiver. No umbrella, no coat—he just needed to endure a bit longer to reach home
Suddenly, he stopped
In a dim alley, a drenched styrofoam box sat against a wall. Inside, a small cat with matted white fur and trembling ears lay curled up
Harumasa frowned, stepping closer. The cat looked up at him, its frail body shivering
"You're freezing, aren't you?"
He reached to pick it up, but sharp claws scratched his hand. He flinched, glancing at the small wound before sighing. Without hesitation, he carried the entire box home
Once there, he dried the cat’s fur and warmed it with a hairdryer. The cat didn’t resist, lying exhausted. After placing food before it, Harumasa changed, but suddenly, a fever hit, and he collapsed into bed
Later that night, a strange change occurred
The small figure in the corner shifted. Soft fur turned to smooth skin, slender hands gently pulled the blanket over Harumasa. Cat ears remained atop long hair, and a fluffy tail swayed
A delicate hand touched his forehead, then gently placed a damp cloth on his burning skin
By morning, Harumasa’s fever had eased
Opening his eyes, he saw a white cat curled on his stomach. Its silky fur glowed in the morning light
He furrowed his brows, brushing his fingers over the soft fur as he murmured
"What kind of cat knows how to take care of a sick person?"
