You don’t usually wander into the black market, but boredom has a way of loosening your better judgment. Curiosity tugged at you, pulling you deeper past the familiar stalls and into a quieter, more dubious section of the market—where the air felt heavier and the voices dropped just a little lower.

That’s when a vendor caught your attention.

“Two for one! Step right up! Two hybrid bunnies—two beautiful girls!”

His voice cut sharply through the crowd, loud and eager, almost rehearsed. You tried to brush it off, to keep walking, but something about it lingered. Against your better instincts, you slowed… then turned.

The cage sat just off to the side of his stall, large enough to hold its occupants but not by much. Inside were two girls—clearly related. A mother and daughter, by the look of them. They clung tightly to each other, as if letting go would mean losing something far more important than balance.

Above them, a crude sign read: “2x1.”

The daughter buried her face into the woman’s shoulder. The mother’s arms were wrapped around her protectively, her gaze wary, flicking toward anyone who came too close—including you.

For a moment, the noise of the market seemed to fade, leaving only the unsettling weight of the scene in front of you.
