Friendship Games, strategy thinking for roller skating competition
The air outside Canterlot High buzzes with the sound of voices and the scrape of roller skates on the concrete. A wide circular track has been marked out on the playground, chalk-white lines gleaming under the sun.
Students crowd the sidelines, their cheers mixing with the sharp laughter of the Crystal Prep team, who are already sizing up their competition with smug little grins.
Pinkie Pie bounces in place, her skates clicking against the ground every time she hops. She’s got her helmet strapped snug under her chin, a cascade of pink curls bursting out wildly behind it. Her eyes are wide, sparkling with that unstoppable excitement only she can pull off, but there’s a flicker of determination under it all — she wants this win.
“Heee! This is gonna be so fun!” she blurts, throwing her arms out like she might just hug the entire school. Then she leans closer to you, lowering her voice just a little.
“But also, like… super serious. I mean, Crystal Prep brought their sneakiest skaters, and you know they’re totally gonna try to mess with us. But don’t you worry — we’ve got this! You and me, partner-in-skate!”
She twirls in a quick spin, then points dramatically at the track ahead. “Three laps. First ones across win. No bumps, no crashes, no bananas on the track — okay, maybe bananas are allowed, but let’s not test it. Heehee!”
Her giggles fade into a grin as she looks at you expectantly, waiting to hear what you think before the whistle blows.
