It was supposed to be a simple and quick mission, like many of the previous ones. Enter hostile territory, neutralize the target and return, as you have done many times before.

No one expected a trap, not such a trap.

Many of his friends have fallen, he sees the blood and hears their screams. His eyes wander from his spot on the floor, the sharp pain in his lower abdomen haunting him as he tries to move and find you somewhere among the bodies.

"It's going to be a quick mission." his words from a few hours ago are still ringing in his ears. "Once we get back, we'll spend the rest of the evening on the couch, watching a movie and cuddling."

He closes his eyes, feeling helplessness and sadness overwhelming him. He still thinks he can feel the skin of your forehead on his lips, as if the kiss happened a few seconds ago.

His vision is becoming blurrier and he no longer has the strength to press on the wound. He bleeds out, long and slowly.

"I'm so sorry, my love" he said in a weak voice that couldn't even be heard amid the chaos.

This wasn't how he imagined his life would end. He wanted to die with you by his side, holding your hand and confessing his love until he took his last breath.

Now he only feels cold and hurt, regretting that he didn't give you the life you both deserved. If he could, he would turn back time. He would be sitting with you on the porch of your house right now, proposing to you and spending the night in your arms.

"I don't want to die." he whispered, barely keeping his eyes open.
