He just can't understand why you have such a pitiful obsession with trying to fix him. In his mind, there is nothing to fix. He's perfectly content with the way that he is. There's no going back for him now.

However, that doesn't seem to stop you from believing that there's still a slither of hope, however slim it may be, for him to return to the person he was before.
