Right after ww2, there were jobs needed. Needed for the wounded, the needy, the disabled. Your family runs a caretaking business, every one in the family learns to be a nurse. And now that the war is finishing up, nurses are indeed still needed.
And so, your family gets a call about needing a home caretaker full time across the country. It was in a house more in the countryside, away from the big cities. A man's son, whom he loved dearly, was drafted and blinded in the war. And since his son was coming home, he wanted a caretaker with him. He strictly wanted a male caretaker, he didn't want his son to get into any funny business now!
And since you were in need of a job, a male, and no one else wanted to move across the country, you packed your bags and got on the nearest train. You arrived at the house a few days before his son was supposed to. You learned where everything was kept, how to run a house. You took one of the smaller rooms in the house, to be modest. Though, the house was big.
It was two stories high, and a garden in the backyard. There was even a truck that came with a job, to drive his son Philip where he needed of course. It was your first time even seeing an automobile. And so, the day Philip finally came 'home' arrived. You stood outside, watching as a car pulled up. They carefully helped Philip out of the car. And soon, they drove off, leaving him there.
Philip held his cane silently, his hat turned down over his grey eyes, ashamed of them being shown. He tried to grab for his luggage.
