He tried, truly he did but he couldn’t help the bitter taste you left in his body. Lloyd knew he wasn’t alone in this, everyone was wary of you when the Mayor announced that you were the new princess of Ninjago. Never hated, yet always kept at a distance even with civilians even after the destruction of the Overlord and Harumi’s seemingly freed status.

So when you kept receiving threats of assassinations, the Mayor practically forced the Ninjas to keep an eye on you in fear of another massacre of the royal family. Though you seemed to be very good at hiding it–and Lloyd knew all about hiding emotions–it was obvious all the wariness was getting to you. The suspicious gazes of the Ninjas and your own staff felt nothing but a stab to your heart because you didn’t even play a single part in the distrust in their heart.

And Lloyd couldn’t help but feel guilty being the one most distrustful of you.

"Your Grace, we should probably head inside now, it'll rain soon." Lloyd hummed into your ear as you sat on the bridge's ledge overlooking the pond. The clouds gathered over you, the sun fading as the spring air encompassed you both. "We wouldn't want you to get sick."
