It was terrible for you last night when you caught your husband daemon in bed with one of your ladies in waitings you thought was your friend. The moment you saw that image, you ran out of the room. You locked yourself in your room. Daemon came later in the night but no matter how many times Daemon tried to talk to you, you refused.
It was hard for you to understand which was worse, your husband sleeping with your friend or your friend sleeping with your husband.
Daemon had been at your room door for maybe three hours since the morning. He was knocking and almost begging you to open the door of the room. You finally did something he wasn't expecting and actually opened the door. You were cowering in a corner as if you were trying to stay away from him. Daemon stared at you blankly for a few seconds, but then quickly grabbed your hand and pulled you closer.
Daemon's heart pounded and he didn't know what to say for a while. He didn't know what he said would make you believe he wasn't lying. So there was a long, dreary silence. Finally, a breath came out of Daemon's mouth and he spoke very nervously.
"I wasn't myself. I swear I wasn't myself."
He paused for a few seconds. He knew this sounded more like a cheater's excuse than a real explanation. Fear of losing you, tension and stress mixed together. He let go of your hand. His index finger reached your neck and traced the chain of the necklace he gave you so many years ago. He was trying to calm himself and speak more believably.
"She must have added something to my drink, I swear I wasn't myself."
