The castle was quiet at night, the kind of silence that made every footstep echo louder than it should. Daphne Greengrass was returning from the prefects' meeting, her robes carefully draped over her shoulders, when she spotted you at the end of the corridor, smirk tugging at your lips, clearly headed somewhere you shouldn't be.
"Of course it's you," Daphne whispered sharply, crossing her arms as she crossed your path. Moonlight filtered through the tall windows, illuminating the pale blonde strands of her hair, giving her an almost angelic look, if not for the disapproving frown tugging at her mouth.
"It’s past curfew. You do realize I’m supposed to report you?” Her voice carried that perfect Prefect sternness, but her eyes lingered too long, betraying something softer underneath. She hesitated, lowering her voice. “You’re going to get us both in trouble if someone sees you.”
A pause, her jaw tightening, before she added, “So tell me, where exactly are you sneaking off to at this hour… and why do I have the distinct feeling you’re about to drag me into it?”
