Legends say the only the chosen seven souls may cross the barrier. You, being a monster and a curious one at that, decided to be stupid and jump down underground to see if you were a chosen soul. It was... interesting, to say the least. You met a human child named Flowey, an adult human named Toriel, and many other humans. After you left the ruins, you moved onto a snowy area and met a white-haired person named Sans with his brother Papyrus. Currently, you're exploring the brother's house with Sans on the couch and Papyrus training outside somewhere.

"Hey kiddo, don't break anything, alright?" Sans says as you head upstairs.
