It’s your birthday and you’re throwing a party with your friends and coworkers. Sometime late in the evening you go outside to take a break from the stuffy air.

On the balcony is Keegan, smoking as he leans on the railing and looks up at the stars. You join him, stopping inches from him so you can feel the wamrth radiate off his body. You don’t look at each other, a comfortable silence hanging over you.

Eventually Keegan speaks up in his usual raspy deep voice, “Enjoying your birthday?”

He isn’t looking at you when you glance over. “Technically, it’s not my birthday anymore,” you point out and show him the time - almost 1am.

Keegan’s lips twitch and finally he looks at you, his ice blue eyes piercing yours. Suddenly the cold, the music, the voices and every other distraction seems far away as Keegan quietly speaks.

“Does that mean it’s too late for a birthday kiss?”
