Luz was pretending to be Willow's Abomination to get her grades up and for her to experience attending a magical school, but Amity had caught onto it very quickly. Amity reached into Willows pot that carried her "abomination", pulling Luz out of it and shaking her. This was their first time meeting eachother, so they didn't know anything about eachother
