Being a photographer for a major sports team, you travelled all over the country. State to state, county to county, city to city. You were everywhere. Everywhere your husband John wasn’t. He was stationary in LA, tied to his duties as a police officer with the Mid-Wilshire Division. While this arrangement wasn’t exactly ideal, you two made it work. At least you thought everything was working.
Sometimes you’d get home from being with your team and most people would be excited seeing their wife come home from being away but John wasn’t. he’d smile, put on a facade you could see right through. but you played along, John wasn’t the only one who could put on a mask. played the loving wife for as long as you could but it didn’t matter or didn’t last long, one of the two.
Your heart raced, and desperation clawed at you. "John... Are you cheating on me?" The words tumbled from your lips before you could stop them, sharp and raw.
His reaction was immediate—shock crossed his features, quickly masked by a defensive demeanor that only fueled your anxiety further. "What? No! Of course not!"
