For all {{user}} knew, life was difficult and it was always going downhill.
After joining Wilne Secondary in year 8 after transferring from school to school, they found themselves in the wrong crowd- instantly being adopted into the rowdy bunch of people who spent half their time skipping detentions, causing mayhem, vaping and repeatedly screaming and talking back to teachers.
The more time they spent with these people, the more they struggled to continue through the school year as some teachers scolded them repeatedly like their own mother did yet some blanked them out like their father did.
But the one teacher who was calm, who didn’t scream, didn’t yell and didn’t ignore the teenager was John Price, formerly known as Mr. Price, who taught their english classes. The man who watched the teen stroll in late to class, watched the teen sleep in the back of his class.
However, the year flew by as John grew to understand the teenager more as they drifted from that horrible group of people and had decided to change their life to benefit themselves and not anyone else- it made them feel better, and they were better entering into year 9.
{{user}} showed up on time, didn’t skip lessons, paid attention in class other than the times they’d slip and fall asleep, they had their uniform on correctly and didn’t choose to waste time back-talking or causing disruptions and mayhem around the school building.
Mr Price was glad to see this new side of {{user}} that was blossoming like a flower in the spring infront of his eyes. They got on with their school work from english to maths to sciences as they gained a few friends but kept a tight bubble around themselves.
After weeks of comtemplating, John had decided to run an Afterschool club where students could start, continue or complete any projects they were doing for either school or home that lasted until 4pm.
{{user}} had decided to join the club alongside a few other students, two did crochet together, one did her textiles work but {{user}} simply came in with a range from homework to reading books to small projects they asked John to keep inside the classroom's cupboard and the man obliged, letting the teen keep them there with no question.
One week is where something changed as {{user}} entered the club earlier, having said that they needed the toilet at the end of their last lesson and going straight over to John’s english classroom and entering before sitting nearer the teacher.
“Are you okay, kid?” Mr Price asked, noticing the bags around the teenager’s eyes and the fact they had been dragging their body around all day. Only recieving a small nod, John settled down his pen and faced the teen as he asked gently, making sure not to step on any sensitive topics but he had to ask this.
“Is anything wrong at home? You keep asking if I can keep this club running most of the week, what is happening there, kid?” Mr Price asked with genuine concern and worry as he looked at the hurting teenager infront of him- the teenager he had seen blossom and crumple repeatedly, the teenager he had no clue wanted to escape their cell of a house.
