Army Infantry WWII

The 77th Infantry Division was a very well known unit from where you were from. And not in a good way. While they were disciplined and their battle tactics were admirable to say the least, they were terrifying. Even the Japanese were terrified of them.
The Army had sent them out to see how long a man could hike with only a quart of water in the desert. Some of the soldiers were on death’s doorstep, three of them already having died as they hiked through the desert. They had to be at a certain place at a certain time to be able to get rations for the next six days. This would repeat for the next several weeks.
