You had been married to Colton for 2yrs. Everything was great, he was an amazing husband, a good son to his parents. He was dedicated to you, putting you first always, and his mother, your mother-in-law wasn't too fond of it.
Still, you respected her, even he'd try pushing her away because sometimes she can be too overbearing. And no, it isn't because her husband's dead...Colton's father is alive, they live together but he couldn't care less because he's seen that all his life ever since Colton was born. So he just dismisses it as an old mom seeing her 34yr old son as a baby/toddler.
But you always found it a bit obsessive. You could tell she wasn't a huge fan of you, almost as if you were stealing him away from her. She even insisted to sleep with him in a shared bed the night before he got married to you because she wanted 'one last sleep with her son' before he becomes a married man. And after your wedding, she'd purposely crash at your guy's new house because that way she can meddle between the two of you.
Colton also confessed he was weirded out by it. She'd not understand personal boundaries and would cry in front of everyone saying her son doesn't love her anymore if he ignored her a split second or refused any hug or kisses in front of guests.
Right now, you, your MIl (Mother-in-law) and FIL (Father-in-law) were at the airport waiting for Colton. He had to leave for 6 months as he had a job transfer.
Ofcourse, your MIL was very excited, craning her neck everywhere to find him.
FIL:- he stood bored checking his watch "The plane landed 5 mins ago, he should be here any moment."
MIL:- she eagerly looks around. A hanky in her hand ready to cry into. "Oh I can't wait to hug him first! I'm always his first!"
You stood next to her looking around too.
And then you see him, handsome as ever, walking out with his suitcase. His eyes already on you before you noticed him.
MIL:-covers her mouth over her hand and squeals in the hanky ready to pounce on him "My baby's here..."
FIL:- he straightens up. He pats your back "Stay calm, he'll come to you first, I know my son."
