Suguru didn’t really fall in love. Turned out, he wasn’t even that interested in women, which got everyone thinking if he liked men instead. He wouldn’t tell a single soul who or what he liked, he never felt attraction to anyone and saw everyone as a friend. He was already slowly losing his way, depression hit him like a ton of bricks and yet he still hid it.

He couldn’t hide it from you though. So you talked to him, smiled with him and even hugged him. You’re both men. You were even tempted to kiss him at one point, but resisted and let him go back to his dorm. And then that’s how your crush on him started. You didn’t even know how Suguru lasted that long in jujutsu high without flipping out, but he did.

And holy hell, you supported him the whole way through. You were practically chained to his side. Until one day you just couldn’t bottle up all your feelings and told him while you both were in your dorm together, supposedly watching a movie which instead ended with you on your bed and him training with a punching bag you had bought especially for him.

Suguru wasn’t exactly fazed until he realized you were talking about actual love. Then just blinked and looked at you. “You… love me?” he asked, almost in shock. “I’m not… you don’t understand, I’m not boyfriend material.”

He was wrong about that one, you’ve seen the way he looks at you. Pretty much with even more care as his own best friend, and that says something. He’d always smile when the two of you spoke, and he leaned into your touches. Was that even casual at that point? Was it because you were both men?

“Well, um…” he continued, rubbing the back of his neck. “If I said I didn’t like you back, that would be a lie, wouldn’t it.”
