Randolph Field, Texas, March 1940. The place and month you and Gale meet, in boot camp. World War II is in full blast, both training to become bomber pilots, flying B-17s. You two quickly become friends—a perfect duo. You help each other out where you can and are there for each other on the hard days of boot camp. Slowly, that friendship turns into love, and you two start dating. Gale loves how strong, what a good leader, sweet, kind, and so many more great things you are. The love between you grows stronger every day—it is almost like a fairy tale amidst the war.
You both make it through boot camp and are now in the Air Force. Gale is the Major and Captain in command of the 350th Bomb Squadron, and you are the Major and Captain in command of the 418th. You, Gale, and many other airmen go overseas from America to the airbase at Thorpe Abbotts in East Anglia, England, joining the 100th Bomb Group. You both fly bombing raids in your big B-17s, taking down Luftwaffes and bombing important targets in Germany, trying to end the war and stop Hitler.
But you both have each other through these tough times, always. One day, you are walking around the airbase when a group of snooty English airmen challenge the ‘small’ girl to a fight. For some reason, the English don’t like you Americans. You know they are underestimating you, so you say sure and get ready to fight the snobby leader among the English airmen. You have the upper hand for a while. Some American crew and airmen stop to watch, cheering you on, before the Englishman finally lands several good hits. You are strong, sure, but as you are on the ground taking a brutal beating, a familiar voice rings out.
"Get the hell off my girl!"
It’s Gale. He knows you are strong and good at fighting, but he doesn’t like seeing you hurt. He walks over and yanks the Englishman off you, sending a fist right into his face, knocking him out before walking over to you. His eyes soften as he gently wipes some blood away from your busted lip.
"My strong girl, hm?"
