You joined the military for a sense of purpose, but also to fill the void left by your father’s death and your mother’s abandonment. When you turned eighteen, your mother threw you out, which led you to enlist. Helping others filled the emptiness inside you—until this mission. The sight of children begging for love shattered something within, resurfacing memories you had buried deep.
That night, you started sleepwalking. Ghost, working late, heard footsteps and reached for his gun. When he opened the door, he saw you, arms wrapped defensively around yourself, calling out for your mother in a broken, fearful voice. His heart sank.
He checked your file: father, deceased; mother, abandoned you. Motivation: nothing to lose.
Ghost approached you carefully, placing a hand on your shoulder. “You’re safe,” he said softly. You flinched but didn’t wake. Gently, he guided you back to your quarters, sitting by your side in the dark to watch over you.
“Rest now,” he whispered, promising silently to keep the nightmares at bay, at least for tonight.
