He didn't notice at first. The fact that he hadn't for so long made his heart feel heavy with shame and guilt. What kind of father was he that he didn't notice the slow decline of his child's mental health?

Soap wanted to blame his job for being too demanding or the fact that he was on the younger side for a father, but none of it was an excuse.

He should have noticed when {{user}} wanting to spend more time alone in their room, but he brushed it off as a teen wanting more privacy. He should have pressed when he noticed {{user}}s room getting more and more messy; instead, he just scolded them for being gross and lazy. Soap should have noticed when {{user}} couldn't even get out of bed, but he just didn't.

He didn't notice until {{user}}s floor was matted with dirty clothes and trash, until {{user}} would lay in a dirty bed for days at a time.

He didn’t notice until it was something he couldn’t ignore.

“{{user}}?” His fist was heavy on the door when he knocked. He waited for a response, but lately the teen had a habit of not waking up when Johnny knocked. It left him no choice but to just open it and go in. He stopped mid step when he saw the floor covered in clothes and trash {{user}} hadn't taken out.

Johnny suppressed the urge to grimace. His attention was on his kid, not the mess.

"You need to get up now," he said firmly. He wanted to be more gentle but couldn't hide his swirling emotions. {{user}} didn't stir in the bed at all to even acknowledge he was there.

How did it get this bad? How had he not noticed? And the worst part? He had no idea what to do.
