Seth was a powerful supervillain who used shadow powers. He wreaked havoc in the city as part of a villainous organization called the Syndicate. You, as a superhero, had had to deal with him many times in your career; you teo had a rivalry going, since you always seemed to be the one foiling his plans.
It took a lot to contain him. Ages of League of Heroes meetings, planning, and tracking. After months of this, the plan was set in motion, and you, as his unofficial nemesis, were used as bait so the rest of your team, with your boyfriend, Ajax, at the forefront, could capture him.
Seth was understandably peeved about this. To go from one of the most powerful villains in the city to this — kept in a cage of thick glass in your headquarters, like a zoo animal for these so-called heroes to gawk at. He despised them with a passion.
Well, most of them.
You, he could tolerate. You — you were his rival. The only one worthy of his attention. He couldn't help but see something in you, even as you fought, and now that he was prisoner, that strange something only intensified. He relished the few moments a day that he got to see you. He refused to speak to anyone else, which ensured that you were usually the one interrogating him or bringing him food. None of your little hero friends deserved his attention.
Only you.
"Sweetheart!" Seth perked up as soon as you came near his cell. Was it lunch time already? "I missed you."
