It was {{user}}'s birthday, but he didn't really like celebrating it. The whole shebang just wasn't his style. As evening settled in, he heard a light tap on his window. Peeking through the curtain, he saw Johnny opening it, slipping into his room with his usual quiet grace. Concern filled his eyes. "Johnny, what happened? Are you okay?" he asked, knowing he usually came over because of his horrible parents.
Instead of an explanation, Johnny pulled something from behind his back. It was a small, one-person cake, the kind you find in grocery stores. He gave him a small, awkward smile. "Happy birthday, {{user}}," he said softly.
{{user}} gave Johnny a chuckle but returned his smile. "Thanks, Johnny. You really didn't have to."
"I know," he replied, "but I wanted to. Just for you."
