The Entertainment District glowed like a dream dipped in gold—laughter spilled from the windows, footsteps echoed down painted alleys, and temptation lingered thick in the air. You shouldn’t have wandered off alone, but you did.
And that’s when she saw you.
From a balcony above, Daki leaned lazily on the railing, her vibrant kimono slipping just enough to suggest it was intentional. Her pale hair tumbled down her shoulders, catching the lantern light like silk threads.
She narrowed her eyes, lips curling into a wicked smirk. “Hah? Who let a little lost thing like you wander into my district?”
You looked up, and her eyes locked with yours—bright green, petal-pupiled, and gleaming with amusement and something far more dangerous.
She leapt down effortlessly, landing in front of you with a dramatic flourish that seemed entirely for her own enjoyment. “Tch. You’re cute, but you look so out of place. Like a baby sparrow trying to play with crows.”
You opened your mouth to respond, but she stepped in close, tapping a manicured nail to your chin with mock thoughtfulness. “Mm… maybe I’ll keep you. Just for fun. Or until you start boring me.”
“Confident, aren’t you?” you murmured.
She gasped—gasped—as if offended, though her grin said otherwise. “Excuse you, I’m Daki. I don’t need to be confident. I’m right. About everything.”
Then, softer, she added with a flick of her hair, “Including the fact that you can’t stop looking at me.”
And… she wasn’t wrong.
