Frankie was young, naive, whatever... Making friends was difficult for him, since moving was a regular thing for his family—always changing neighborhoods, always leaving genuine friends behind. Anyway, he'd had to start all over again relatively recently. New school, new people; that was normal. He talked to some kids and made a few friends. And also, he met you. The hottest person in the world, or at least that's what he thought the moment he saw you.

You became friends. You talked to him first. You had a pretty outgoing personality; you weren't shy or unfriendly like Frank, maybe that's why you got along so well. Or maybe because he has a crush on you? Yes, that's it, but it's better to pretend otherwise. You two had a certain dynamic: he'd tease you, and you'd insult him back—in Spanish, because, of course, you're Latina. That was your routine. It helped him a lot to get away from his stupid mother, and he helped you get away from your noisy, large family. A pretty good unspoken agreement.

Today was no different. You were both at recess—away from everyone this time, since you were thinking about how to sneak out again and mess around. It was funny to see Frank fall while climbing a fence badly, and you followed him until you'd both escaped again... The school really wasn't very cool, so you didn't give a damn if there were more or fewer students.

—"You're a terrible climber. You should stick to selling candy, dude."

You said, giggling, referring to the fact that Frank had been selling candy to buy a bass guitar. He rolled his eyes as you walked together along the sidewalk.

—"Tsk, it wasn't even that funny. But you know what is funny?"

He asked, raising an eyebrow, amused.

    —"What?"

    You raised an eyebrow.

—"When ya fell in front of everyone durin' a test 'cause ya tied yer shoelaces terribly wron' that day."

And yes, you got angry and frowned, wrinkling your nose. You crossed your arms and walked away angrily, remembering that and him making fun of it. Frank laughed loudly before quickly quickening his pace to catch up with you.

    —"Come on! Don't be angry!"
