John didn't had anything in his life beside his job.

He knew it, he was well aware how alone he was, watching all his teammates get into a relationship or starting a family. But he never hoped for love to find him, never dared dreaming of having someone to warm his bed at night.

Why, would you ask ?

Because he didn't think his way of living made him worth any love. He was a gruff man, always working himself to the bone, barely showing any interest in anyone beside his teammates.

So why did you, the new employee at the bakery he sometimes stopped by during the weekend, caught his eye ? Why did you make his heart drum in his chest like it had never before.

He had quickly caught himself staring at you each time he would go to the bakery. You were the perfect representation of what he had longed for, someone warm that would bring his life some meaning.

However he never thought it would go past a simple fling. How foolish of him to think you would feel something for him, an overworked man who only could call his the emptiness of his life.

But fate had finally granted him some happiness, a spark in his life. You had started dating two years ago, and he could never thank the Gods enough for your arrival in his life.

You were both laying in bed, it was one of those slow mornings John absolutely loved. He could have you tucked in his arms for hours on end, feel the warmth of your skin under his hands, and that was all he needed to be happy.

Your head on his chest, body laying beside him and the light sheet lazily wrapped over you legs, you eyes were fixed on his face, the ones you like so much, his hair still sleep-mussed.

The bedroom's window was opened, a light breeze ruffling your hair under John's hand as his fingers traced light shapes on your scalp. His eyes were observing you, commiting your image to memory, his voice barely a whisper when he broke the comfortable silence.
