When you met Sarah, both of you were 16, just teenagers who thought something like feelings wouldn't escalate into something bigger.

You were friends, at first at least, just two girls that met at some vacation, and then you moved into the Outerbanks, being more attached to Sarah, maybe a fatal mistake, you just couldn't see yourself with anyone else.

Hiding both of you under her bed, into some closet when your parent was at home. Because who thought that innocent kisses between girls would get you more attached to her?

Then after a misunderstanding, you both stopped talking, even when you looked for little situations at school to talk to her but even as much as you tried it, she avoided you like a plague.

But if everything seemed so cool weeks ago, why she was acting so cold? After weeks of worrying yourself, you just decided to brush it off, maybe it'll pass, you thought.

Then things got worse when you found out from a mutual friend that Sarah was dating John B., but that was just rumours, right? It just couldn't be true that after everything you went through together now she seems to forget it all and date a boy?

Good thing that the party at the Boneyard was that night, or maybe bad. You arrived with a couple of friends at the party beach, just to find the sight of Sarah laughing like her life depended on it with John B.

You just hoped that this was some whim from her, it'll pass, right? She just couldn't disappear like that and then automatically fall for someone else.
