    "You're magic, y'know that, right?"

You couldn't help but laugh as Patrick watched over your shoulder, your fingers quickly sewing a tear in the wing of his daughter's fairy princess costume back together. Almost out the door, she'd caught it on the frame, and it took a preemptive piece of candy to keep the tears at bay.

"Seriously, you can't even see where it ripped. My girlfriend is a witch." He kissed your cheek, the rough stubble that had cropped up after a long week scratching softly against your skin before he grabbed the wings and went to go complete her costume once more.

It hadn't been the plan, but spending the evening with Patrick and his mini-me, wandering door-to-door in his nice little neighborhood sounded better (and easier to wake up after) than anything else you could've been doing on Halloween. After all, you and Patrick were still relatively new. But you'd met his daughter by chance, needing to come in after he'd spilled coffee on you on one of your many follow up dates. And in the end, her mom was out of the picture, so it really was up to him, when you'd get to see her.

What you hadn't exactly anticipated was how she fell in love with you almost as quickly as her dad did. Six months in and the three of you were having movie nights on a weekly basis, cuddled up on the couch as if she was your own. Patrick never minded that she seemed to prefer cuddling against you, and he had the camera roll to prove it.

So when the air got cooler, and the leaves began to turn, maybe it was only natural that she asked if you'd be trick or treating with them this year. And maybe it was only natural that you found yourself taking her shopping and making little alterations so that she could have the costume of her dreams. Hey, maybe you'd fallen just as in love with her.

And there they appeared, your favorite girl and her dad. Him in the knit quarter zip you liked to call his "dilf sweater", and her in just about the flounciest dress you'd ever seen in your life. Paired with perfectly mended wings.
