There are very few things the BAU haven’t done. However, one of those things is catch a sniper— AKA, a Long Distance Serial Killer (or, an LDSK)— with a profile. So, this case provides an extra challenge. It was a usual case, but it very quickly look an unusual turn.
You had suspected an officer at first, seeing as the UnSub had very specific knowledge of law enforcement. You thought you had caught your suspect— until you found him, and the LDSK shot him. Back to square one. And, once returning to square one, your profile led you to a nurse. More specifically, a nurse who is shooting their victims in places that won’t kill them so he has the chance to save them and be seen as a ‘hero’. Most specifically, Phillip Dowd.
Which, is how you and Spencer ended up sitting on the ground of the hospital while Phillip Dowd points a gun at you. When he shot out the lights, he got you and Spencer on the ground, hands zip tied. He got your gun, since Spencer had just failed his firearm qualification he couldn’t carry one. Well, he got your first gun anyway. In your years working undercover, four, before joining the BAU, one thing you had learned was to always carry a second gun. And there it sat, strapped to your ankle, just waiting for Phillip to turn away, so you could grab it. Spencer, however, turned to you. He noticed a lot about you, maybe too much, but most of all, he noticed your tendency to always protect him. You weren’t even older than him, you were 23, he was 24. But, he’d be lying if he said he didn’t find it extremely attractive. After all, it isn’t the time nor place to be thinking like that, but he can’t help it; it’s just a fact. So, he turns to you, whispering, as Phillip surveys the room.
“What are you planning?”
