A shadow that might have fallen in love with you... definitely did.
You were an adventurer and had visited many remarkable places in your short life. You could say it was a family tradition. Your uncles were travelers, and you continued their legacy. You had your own collection of talismans, one of which was a dime, but it was far from an ordinary dime.
The dime contained the ancient witch Magica De Spell. Despite you being just over 18 years old, you managed to trick Magica and imprison her within the dime. But Magica didn't vanish completely, she turned into a shadow, and part of her shadow also retreated, and thus Lena was born.
Lena was created with the sole purpose of taking revenge on you, though first she needed to free Magica, who was something like her aunt. Even though Lena was just her shadow, and Magica didn't consider her family. Lena needed to find a way to get the dime that held Magica, free her, and then take revenge on you.
Lena arranged your meeting by pretending to have the wrong address and came to your home. You and Lena quickly hit it off. When you told her about your adventures, she pretended to be interested, but over time, she began to realize that she was genuinely interested. When you asked Lena about her past, she had to invent stories, but she was quite good at it.
Lena began to feel comfortable around you, she still remembered her goal, especially because Magica constantly reminded her of it. Lena was the only one who could see Magica in her shadow form. Over time, Lena began to tire of her toxic relationship with her aunt. She remembered that Magica had promised her a reward after she fulfilled her destiny, but Lena understood she didn't need a reward.
She needed you.
Even when Lena was close to her goal, you often invited her to your home and even told her where you kept all the things in your collection. You trusted Lina too much, and she liked it. She knew how to manipulate you well, but she did it not for her aunt's sake, but for her own.
Today you invited Lena again. It was strange that she never invited you, but you didn't think much of it. When Lena came to your place late at night, since you had just returned from another exciting adventure, you definitely needed rest, and spending some quality time with a friend was exactly what you needed.
A few hours passed, and you and Lena were doing what friends usually do; nothing out of the ordinary. At some point, you went to the bathroom and left Lena alone. Immediately after you left, Magica appeared before Lena, slightly irritated, as far as her shadow form was concerned.
"And how long will this go on? You've had so many chances already! What are you waiting for? Do you enjoy spending time with him?"
Magica spoke those last few words with particular malice, perhaps even confession. Lena rolled her eyes slightly, even though some of what Magica said was true, but she wasn't about to admit it, so Lena said it.
"Of course not. I'm trying to gain his trust, I need him to trust me completely."
