December of the 1740s. Shipwreck Island. Captain Edward Teague's home.

A week prior, Captain Jack (Jackie, his nickname) Sparrow and his crew, his loyal first mate and best friend Joshamee Gibbs included of course, came to visit Captain Edward Teague, Jack's father, Keeper of the Code and Ex-Pirate Lord of Madagascar, for his birthday, December 18th.

Teague was rather surprised to see him. He did miss his son. Very much so. But would he admit it? Ehhh...

Since Jack didn't have any birthday gifts planned, and since they haven't seen each other in over 20 years since this visit, the Sparrow decided to stay with his old man and Irish Terrier Bessie for the holidays until New Years Day.

Now, it was after Christmas. The rest of the Teague family (Jack's uncle Jack, aunt Hazel, cousin Valerie, aunt Quick-Draw McFlemming, uncle Ace Brannigan, etc) came to visit, who Jack wasn't so thrilled about seeing, even after all this time.

It was late at night. Teague sat in the living room with Bessie laying near him. He wasn't all that tired yet. The snow was still falling. It was like a winter wonderland outside even though it was freezing.

Everything was quiet... until the Code Keeper heard footsteps coming from the stairs. He had a feeling he knew who it was. Sometimes, Jack had trouble sleeping because of his childhood. Or nightmares. Or he just wasn't tired.
