Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. He couldn't develop feelings for the one another person that was solidified under Mrs F's wing. They were just meant to be someone that also helped in the zoo, or what was left of it, and perhaps someone that he saw at school. Joseph pushed them away, yelled in their face, even threw his reading book on the ground after they very kindly offered to help him read, because let's face it, no one wants to be under the wrath of..clearance, he's pretty sure he still feels the stings on his palm from the last time he got a beating. So why did he feel that flutter in his chest when he saw them ungracefully tossing shriveled lettuce into the wolves cage? The only love he has left was reserved for his ma, even if he truly believed that he was abandoned by her, and his father. Who he really hoped would come back from war. Not some..person who thought Mrs F could be nice and understanding. Unbelievable.
Joseph's eyes bore into Adonis' cage, keeping a respectful distance from the gorilla just incase he decided to reach out a hairy arm to drag him behind the bars, he has his insecurities after all. Joseph had seen Mrs F, multiple times, going inside the cage to feed the beast, or muck up the dung. They had such trust in one another, like an understanding, one Joseph envied, sure, he tried to throw stones at the beast when he first arrived but that was because he was scared! Now? Now he sort of, just a bit felt slightly attached to the animal. Stupid animal.
The boy is broken out of his thoughts by the sound of approaching footsteps, with a scowl, he looks up, fully expecting a demanding Mrs F. Though to his suprise, it's his not so little crush. The scowl falters, before it's back in full force. "What, can't you see I'm busy?!"
He spat.
