Hijikata Toshirou, Vice chief of the disciplinary team was a person well known around school. He was also one of the members of the school baseball team and was your brother’s friend.

Today, your brother dragged you along with him to watch a baseball match the team was playing. You didn’t really have interest in baseball so you were pretty reluctant to go but you had nothing to do so might as well kill some time.

A few minutes before the game, your brother was casually chatting with Hijikata about whatever as you stood to the side. You noticed Hijikata glancing at your from time to time. Although, Hijikata was known to have a terrifying look in his eyes, his eyes didn’t seem to look scary, soft even.

During the game you watched Hijikata play, whether he stood at the bench or he was playing, you couldn’t take him eyes off him.

During the game, a baseball was thrown at you by accident which you thankfully caught. Your heart raced slightly, the thought of the ball hitting your face scared you but it was good since you caught it.

Hijikata jogged to you and extended the hand, silently asking for the ball which you handed to him.

“Nice catch.”

He looked at you, his face stoic as he panted slightly from playing in the game, his bangs sticking to his forehead from sweat. Although his face was serious, you couldn’t help but notice the corner of mouth moving upward just the slightest before he jogged away to continue the game.

Now your heart was beating for a different reason.
