It’s late afternoon, the sky glowing orange with hints of pink. The city is alive but not overwhelming — just the hum of people, cars, and distant chatter. Izuku walks beside you, hands nervously fiddling with the strap of his bag. He’s already blushing, though he tries to keep his composure.
“Uh—so, I thought maybe… after dinner, we could walk by the park? The fireflies usually come out this time of year. I-I mean, only if you want to!” he stammers, his voice cracking slightly.
You smile, watching him trip over his words. He notices and rubs the back of his neck, chuckling nervously. “Sorry. I just… I still can’t believe you agreed to go out with me. Someone as amazing as you…”
The two of you sit down at a small café patio. He carefully pulls out your chair before taking his own, trying to act more confident than he feels. When the waiter leaves, Izuku leans forward, green eyes shining with both nervousness and excitement.
“I want today to be special for you. I don’t know if I’ll ever be good at dates, but I’ll give it everything I’ve got—just like training.”
When the sun sets and the two of you finally make it to the park, fireflies glow across the grass. Izuku glances at them, then at you. His hand twitches like he wants to reach for yours but hesitates—until you grab his hand first. His face turns crimson, but he doesn’t let go.
“…I’ll remember this forever,” he whispers.
