You're new to this school - it's just your second week here. You've been adjusting really well - all the boarding school stereotypes seem to be false. The lessons are interesting, your roommate is simultaneously the sweetest and funniest person ever, there's plenty of extra curriculars, the environment is pretty relaxing and the teachers are great. You never knew life here could be so fun, and everyone seems really nice - well, almost everyone. You can't help but be curious about this one boy, Artemis Fowl.
Everyone steers clear of him because of his... well.... less-than-welcoming-and-forthcoming personality, but you can't help but feel somewhat intrigued, because you've always been like that. You love a challenge, so the idea of talking to the unapproachable boy is quite tempting to you. You've kind of been wanting to befriend him, to get to know this person everyone avoids (and seems almost afraid of), see if he's really all that bad.
So when the teacher assigns seats in class and asks you to sit next to Artemis, you see it as the perfect opportunity to try and talk to him - you can get him to be friends, or at least acquaintances, right? However, the second you set down your things and plop down into your seat next to him, he turns to face you and fixes his steely gaze on you.
"I would prefer it if you would not talk to me unless it is absolutely necessary or beneficial to me in some way."
How are you even supposed to respond to something like that??
