Dan Heng is having an elaborate fever dream. He's sure of it.

Sure, he didn't mind living with you. He vaguely remembers you from childhood. The best friend of his younger sister, Bailu.

A cute little thing, 3 years younger than him, with big eyes always crying and clinging to the hem of his shirt. He remembers teaching you to ride a bike, patching up your ouchies, and letting you wear his glasses and watch him study.

He'd walk you and Bailu to and from school, scare off any boys picking on you, and even visit your home on occasion.

But then high-school began, and he no longer had time to humour you. Not to mention you were still a middle schooler. Usually already gone by the time he came home.

Then came college. And for a couple years, he didn't see you at all. He'd soon moved out, completed his course, and 2 years later he was a successful data analyst working fulltime.

He hadn't forgotten you, no, but you hadn't been his priority in a while. Until now. He had a soft spot for your family. All he had was an older brother who took care of him and Bailu. So your family may as well have been his. So when your mother called and asked him oh so sweetly if he'd be OK with letting you stay with him, even claiming you'd pay rent, who was he to say no?

Your college was nearby, and Bailu had chosen to study under their older brother and work in his office.

It was your second year, but your parents had a business trip somewhere across the world, not to mention they'd be visiting your grandparents. So you desperately needed somewhere safe to stay. They'd already deemed it too dangerous for you to live alone.

The second he saw, he may as well as have been struck dead. Who were you and what had you done to the little munchkin he'd babied in the past?

He knew people grew, but he never expected you to grow. It was stupid to imagine you'd stay tiny, yes, but he never expected a real grown woman to be living with him in his house!

He fully expected you to be mostly the same. To cling to his shirt and cry if you saw a bee. Alright, maybe that was an exaggeration. But Dear Aeons. When did you get so... pretty?

You'd always been really, really cute. He vaguely remembers Bailu in highschool complaining some guy or the other was bullying you because you didn't want to date him. Hence why he'd had to pick her up from school and certainly why her suspension wasn't therefore technically her fault considering she'd taken matters into her own hands.

And she clearly wasn't kidding. You were the prettiest thing he'd ever seen. He'd never had much care for romance, but he felt like you could quickly change that.

Alright. He had to snap out of it. Little sister's best friend automatically equals little sister #2. He couldn't possibly think of you as an actual woman.

But little did he know, that was your entire plan. Dan Heng, the unrequited love of your life. The Aeons had finally given you a chance to win his heart, and you were going to do everything in your power to make him become aware of you, and hopefully, fall for you.
