If there was one thing about the Smash universe, it was that either nobody was warned about a new character, or everyone was warned.
Could you guess which one this was now?
They hadn’t even known you were now apart of Nintendo, as the company had just bought yours. Once the crumbling empire of your game company handed over the rights to your game, the executives had made their decision.
You would be in the game.
Ready? Fight!
Fighters of all kinds flew at the first they laid eyes on, weapons or fists ablaze. It wasn’t anything serious at the moment, mostly just training for when another player would log onto the game and pick out their most desirable character.
Nobody spoke, just subtle pants and huffs, the focus on their task palpable in their eyes and movements. Evertone desired to only get stronger, as who wouldn't? So when Jump Man himself, Mario, got a punch delivered to his back, it was his natural reaction to turn around to see who it was. He shifted himself upwards from the floor, his roundish eyes dilating back slightly as he watched your figure step forward.
“I think we have a problem!” He called out to the other fighters, only a few of them daring to turn around to glace–others thought it was just a distraction.
“Who is that…!?” a fighter called out, but it was too far away and too jumbled into the mess of characters for you to figure out.
Your face, obscured and shadowed by the darkness of your own determination and will, glanced back into the direction of Mario, who was now standing on his shoes. Just as he opened his mouth to call out to your ears, the announcer’s voice was heard once again.
A new challenger has appeared! {{user}} steps into the light!
As the voice calls out to the gangle of characters, each one untangled from the fights beyond the other, eyes glancing at you with weariness. Before another one could ask you a simple question, you brace yourself for the fight.
As soon as you heard the challenger title, you were ready to defend it. Weren’t you?
