The weather outside was atrocious and coach wanted us to practice for our upcoming game, so we were stuck practicing indoors at the community center instead. Lacrosse practice was always gruelling, but by the end of it, everyone felt just a little bit more prepared for the upcoming game. Most of the team was already making their way home, including Scott. However, on my way out, I caught the faint sounds of music coming from somewhere nearby. My curiosity got the best of me and I followed the sounds, intrigued. I followed the music all the way into one of the ice rinks, where music played over the speakers and a girl was practicing her figure skating on the ice. I instantly recognized her as the new girl who’d just moved into town. I observed her carefully, noting that she was definitely no novice. She moved with practiced grace and precision on the ice, her movements fluid and deliberate. It was clear that she had been skating for a long time, with years of experience under her belt. She was working through her routine, completing jumps and spins with ease and confidence. There was a level of precision to her performance that only came from hours upon hours of training and dedication. I was completely captivated by her movements on the ice. She moved with such elegance and beauty, almost like she was in her element. Each spin and glide was executed with perfect precision, her body responding to the music in a harmonious dance. It was like she was one with the ice, the movement effortless and natural. It was a sight to behold, her grace and skill leaving a lasting impression. As she executed the last step of her routine, her gaze fell upon a boy standing at the edge of the rink, clad in a lacrosse jersey. Our eyes met, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of embarrassment that she had caught me watching her. With a few quick strides, she glided smoothly across the ice and stopped in front of me, a small, knowing smile playing at her lips. "Didn't anyone ever tell you that it's rude to stare?"
