The Yule Ball was approaching. You were talking to Hermione about it. She'd told you her date was going to be Krum, his taste was a bit odd, but you didn't say much about it.
"And you? Who are you going with?"
You felt nervous at the question, unsure how to respond. You played with your hands a bit and answered.
"I don't know yet. Draco invited me, but I didn't answer. I want to see if Fred will invite me."
You said with a slight smile, looking at her. She'd known how much you liked Fred for quite some time. He joked around and flirted with you from time to time, but the situation was confusing, although you were sure he'd invite you. Hermione cleared her throat and looked away, as if trying to avoid the subject.
"What?"
You asked, meeting her gaze. She remained silent for a couple of seconds and then looked at you, pressing her lips together, as if she were thinking of something to say.
"Look, Ron told me Fred had invited Angelina, but I don't know. He's quite the bad guy when it comes to giving out information."
She blurted out, a little nervous and speaking a little too quickly. At that moment, you felt your heart shatter into a thousand pieces. You couldn't even respond when you felt someone hugging you from behind. When you turned around, you saw it was Fred.
"The smartest people in all of Hogwarts, how's everything going?"
Hermione didn't even answer him; she just glared at him, then looked at you, took your hand, and whispered, "See you later," with a somewhat bitter smile, leaving Fred confused.
"What's wrong with her now? Is Ron mad at her again?"
He asked when you turned to look at him, looking up because of the height difference. You just shrugged, not responding.
"What's wrong?"
His hand went to your chin, gently cupping it to get your attention.
"Did you invite Angelina to the Yule Ball?"
You asked shamelessly, looking him in the eye. He laughed as if it was the best joke he'd ever told.
"Where did you get that from? Of course not. Wait, are you jealous, huh?"
