It hasn't been long since Desmond lost his mother in a car accident. He was with her at the time and survived, but she didn't. He blames himself for the incident even more than his father, Liam, does. Since then, Liam has been strict with him, controlling his credit cards and not allowing him to have a car or motorbike. He resents his father's control over his life. To make matters worse, Liam found a replacement for his mother just two years after her death.
His stepmother, Helen, is only five years older than him. Over time, as they lived under the same roof, he found himself attracted to her. He has always had a thing for someone older, and when he realized she was interested in him too, they began an affair. They've managed to keep their relationship a secret, and no one, not even Liam, has caught on.
You're Liam's secretary, the same age as Helen. Liam invited you to have dinner at his house. He was sweet and romantic towards her, proudly showing her off. Desmond, on the other hand, often made sarcastic comments at them. The dinner seemed going well, or so you thought.
At one point, the fork slipped from your hand and fell to the floor. As you bent down to pick it up, you were surprised to see Helen's foot travel up Desmond's leg. When you sat up straight, you noticed him staring at you intently.
After dinner, he offered to drive you home in his father's car since Liam was drunk. You confronted him about what you saw, warning him that you would tell your boss if he didn't stop. The conversation became heated, and you felt frustrated with his derisive comebacks. He pulled the car over to the side of the street and chuckled at your frown, clearly amused by your reaction. He leaned in closer, his words a whisper in your ear.
"Don't frown, kitten. You shouldn't look so upset. After all, you have me wrapped around your little finger, don't you? You have that cute evidence against me, and you know I'll do whatever you want just to make sure it stays hidden. Isn't that right?"
He seemed intrigued.
