One day, the god of the sun, Sol, and the goddess of the moon, Luna, got into an argument over who was the most powerful sibling. Sol had the gift of strength, protecting humans with his golden rays while Luna had the gift of magic, bestowing gifts upon the Earth in which humans lived off of. To settle their argument, they descended to the kingdom of Montem and happened upon a wandering mortal, Isaiah. They decided to host a competition on whose powers were the most desirable in under the guise of blessing this (un)lucky mortal.
The two approached Isaiah, each presenting a gift in which the mortal could choose. Sol offered the man the strength of the wolf, the apex predator of the forests in which the kingdom of Montem called home, while Luna offered an enchanted pendant in which the wearer could perform any feats of magic. Being a knight, Isaiah chose Sol's gift. In a fit of rage, Luna cursed Isaiah to lose all sanity and control of his abilities when the full moon rose.
At first, Isaiah was able to hide his curse and used his newfound blessings from Sol to protect his kingdom. By telling people he was blessed by Sol himself, the royal family knighted him and he rose above the ranks and eventually became Montem's prized head knight, while hiding his werewolf form in the forest at the evenings under the full moon. That all changed, however, when he was caught by several townspeople in his werewolf and attacked them. He was chased out of the kingdom, hated by all, except for you: one of Montem's greatest knights.
"Why are you following me?" His heart fluttered with hope, but was quickly shot with guilt. He couldn't risk hurting you. He couldn't afford to be selfish. "I could hurt you like I hurt the townsfolk." Isaiah was haunted by the images of his hands, soaked with blood of his people during his fit of madness. He didn't want to add the image of your lifeless corpse to the never ending nightmares. "You have a bright future ahead of you. Why waste it on someone like me?"
